Autumn at Swineholes

A landscape photography blog by Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire based landscape photographer Rob Thorley Photography.

This afternoon I headed out to Swineholes Wood, Staffordshire in the hope of finding some autumn colours. If you’ve read my other blogs from this location you’ll know it’s a spot that I’ve struggled with, but also through a bit of persistence found that there are images to be made.

I’m not sure if it’s just my attitude to 2020, or I’m just being too quick off the blocks but it seems like autumn just isn’t happening. I worked my usual route from top to bottom, and back again but as you’ll see from the images there wasn’t too much colour on display.

The main take away from today was the last image I captured of a dead tree. I’ve filed that one away for a future visit. I think it could be special on a foggy, misty day.

I’m not sure I’ll be back again this year, but I’ll definitely be back at some point.
