Landscape photographer Rob Thorley Photography

About me . . .

I’m based in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, in the heart of England. This website is where you will find my landscape and nature portfolios, and my blog, where I share my experiences and thoughts as I live the dream of being a full-time landscape photographer.

After 40 years in the IT industry, I had the opportunity to take a paid voluntary exit from my job. As such on the 23rd December, 2023 at the tender age of 56, I became a full-time landscape photographer, or as the wife likes to remind me . . . I retired.

Whilst landscape photography is my true passion (photographically speaking), nature and wildlife photography are an occasional mistress.

If you would like to purchase a print, or a high resolution file of any of my images , please visit my online shop, or get in touch via the contact page.

You can follow along to all my latest adventures by checking out my landscape photography blog, or please follow me via the social media links on my website.

About my gear . . .

I started my photography journey with a Nikon D3200 and have remained with Nikon along the way. I currently use a Nikon Z8 for all my landscape, nature and wildlife photography.

Lens wise I own three lenses, these are the Nikon NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S, NIKKOR Z 24-120mm f/4 S and the NIKKOR Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S.

For my aerial photography and videography I use a DJI Mini 4 Pro.

I use a 3 Legged Thing Winston 2.0 tripod. Filter wise I have the NiSi V6 filter system and to lug all this gear around in I have a Gitzo Adventury 45L camera backpack.
