A landscape photography blog by Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire based landscape photographer Rob Thorley Photography.

Today was a trip out to Cannock Chase, Staffordshire to try and capture some of the Autumn colours that were on display.

Although quite local, Cannock Chase isn’t a location that I’m too familiar with, something I definitely plan to address. I opted to park up at Birches Valley, which is probably one of the busier areas, but the one I was most familiar with. I wandered off into the woods, and to be honest I didn’t have to wander far. These images were all taken with a few hundred yards of the main car park..

Once back at home, and inspired by watching a vlog on YouTube I attempted to edit the pictures I’d captured using the “Orton Effect”. I’m quite pleased with the end result.

Without sounding like “I want. I want I want . . . “, a little bit fog would have been the icing on the cake, but it wasn’t to be this time. Hopefully next year, as I’m definitely going back in Autumn 2020.

You can view more images from my gallery of trees.
